At Flat Rock Homes and Care Center, we believe that the spiritual aspect of one's life is equally as demanding of time and attention as the physical and emotional aspects. Therefore, we provide a choice for the individuals we serve to participate in our spiritual life program. Under the direction of our part-time chaplain, Rev.
Beth McKee, individuals are encouraged to attend worship, to attend Christian Education, and to explore their faith at a level that is consistent with their functioning abilities.
We are a faith-based agency. Our mission statement states that we will "provide quality care to persons with MR/DD in ways that demonstrate God's love." We believe that demonstration of God's love helps us to ensure quality care.
To Flat Rock, being faith based means that while no one is forced to participate in a religious program, and certainly no particular religious point of view is presented as the only theological stance, we do profess our faith experience and encourage others to do so also. We believe that having an active relationship with God enhances the lives of the people we serve. We also believe that those we serve are persons of worth and dignity, imbued by God.
Families/guardians of residents are invited to tell us their spiritual life preferences in order that we may better serve those who are a part of our program.
