At Flat Rock we work with individuals who have intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD) and compounding behavioral and sometimes psychiatric issues. Most children and adults who find a home at Flat Rock have had many doors closed to them. Their diagnoses are multifaceted including Autism, Down Syndrome, Obsessive Compulsive, Bi-Polar and Seizure Disorders, among other significant health issues.

In out state-of-the-art Care Center, our individuals live in six interconnected homes, each with the ability to house six residents. In these homes children and adults work toward daily individualized goals, monitored by a Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP). We eat our meals together as a family, relax and enjoy strong social relationships with those around us. This home-like setting allows staff and residents to develop strong relationships, encouraging even those with the most significant social anxiety to build lasting bonds with their caregivers.

Medical care is delivered on site by licensed nursing staff under the direction of our Director of Nursing (R.N.) and our Medical Director (M.D.). Flat Rock works with many outside health professionals, with special interest in persons with developmental disabilities to provide the best psychiatric and therapeutic care to our individuals. The medical team at Flat Rock coordinates care for our individuals between more than 50 outside specialists in Pulmonology, Neurology, Cardiology and other medical areas in order to provide the absolute best care for our people. Residents receive speech therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy by licensed professionals on site, at our Flat Rock Educational Center and at our Flat Rock Day Program site.
