“… Happy Birthday, dear Flat Rock! Happy Birthday to you!”
This July, Flat Rock celebrated 158 years of caring. It all began in 1866 when the Weicher family donated farmland to open an orphanage in Flat Rock, OH. Since then, thousands of generous, caring supporters like you have enhanced the lives of children and adults needing hope, support, and a home.
This summer, Flat Rock received another amazing gift of property. On June 30, 2024, the congregation of Seybert Memorial United Methodist Church in Bellevue, Ohio, donated their church and parsonage property to Flat Rock Homes. This gift is an answer to many prayers over the past 20 years. This generous donation will allow Flat Rock to expand and enhance our current Adult Day Support programming services to additional persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities living in the community.
We envision a community-based program with a lot of fun outings in the community as well as fun hangouts for those who want to stay in and play games, drink coffee or eat lunch with friends, exercise, play a sport, make a craft, or enjoy a round of pool or a hand of cards.
As you can imagine, we’re overjoyed about this new building and opportunity. However, work is needed to refit this building for greater accessibility to meet the needs of those we serve, including, but not limited to, air conditioning installation, office and kitchen renovations, updating the restrooms to include adult-sized and accessible features, and new furniture throughout.
Will you join us in creating a wonderful space for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities by sending a special birthday gift today?
