Thunder the Mini Horse and Back to School- August 2018

School is officially in session for the community as well as our residents that are still in school. The majority of our residents are still enjoying their jobs bagging groceries, washing cars, folding pizza boxes, or working on projects in our Adult Advantages Program. As we start into fall, we are starting into the Christmas Season here at Flat Rock and it is always a joyous time of year.

These are a special kind of person what God has blessed us with to help us better serve our individuals throughout the services we offer. Christmas is always such an exciting time of year around the Flat Rock Care Center and in our Community Services program. We’re sending our new, re-vamped wish list out very soon to kick off our holiday season.

#GivingTuesday is coming up on November 27th this year! We’ll be having a reveal of what our goal is this year coming in September so make sure to follow us across social media for that update.

General Announcements

We are so thankful to the members of Flat Rock Ebenezer UMC, Bellevue First UMC, and Seybert UMC for being so willing to come in and help us. They came this month to help us get our Christmas Wish List mailer ready to send out and saved us hours or maybe days of work.

Thank you to Serenity Farms in Luckey, Ohio for bringing Thunder the Mini Therapy Horse to our Day Hab facility! The individuals absolutely loved it and are still talking about meeting him. A few pictures are below.

Items we need and Volunteer Opportunities

We are in need of clothes hangers or any material, though we need the standard size rather than the kid’s size. We are consistently in need of toilet paper, tissues, paper towels, body wash, laundry soap, and anything else that you would use on a daily basis. As Christmas begins to approach we will be looking for groups that are willing to volunteer to help us wrap gifts.

Thank you to everyone in the community who helps us at Flat Rock Homes. We appreciate your donations, time, and prayers more than you could know. And as always, for the most up to date information check our website at www.flatrockhomes.org and all of our social media at @FlatRockHomes.
