Flat Rock Homes 10th Annual Race at the Rock a Tremendous Success!
On Saturday, April 25, 2015, Flat Rock Homes hosted its 10th Annual Race at the Rock where more than 375people visited the Flat Rock campus in Flat Rock, OH to participate in this milestone event which raised more than $48,000 for the children and adults served by Flat Rock Homes, Care Center and Community Services
The event started early on Saturday morning with registration opening at 8am and the first event beginning at 9am. The Special Athletes race participants lined up to start the Race and after a blessing from Bishop John Hopkins, Bishop of the East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church, Rev. Nancy S. Hull sounded the air horn to start the 10th Annual Race at the Rock. At the conclusion of the Special Athletes Race, the 4-Mile and 1-Mile event participants lined up behind the start line for their events.
Once all of the race participants crossed the finish line, lunch was served and the awards ceremony began in the gym. Awards were given in the 4-mile run for the top three male and top three female finishers overall, as well as, the top three male and female finishers in the following age divisions: 12 and Under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over. In addition, the top finishers in the walk were recognized and all of the Special Athletes Race participants received a medal.
This year the Bishop’s Cup was awarded by Bishop Hopkins to Norwalk First United Methodist Church as the top church team in the 4-Mile Run. Rev. Hull presented Team Sutton Bank with a special award as the top team to finish the 4-Mile race.
