#GivingTuesday is Coming: Will You Join the Movement?
As the calendar turns to October, we prepare for the last few months of the year and brace ourselves for the barrage of upcoming holidays that always seem to arrive before we are ready for them.
From October through the first of the new year we are in constant “holiday prep” mode. Whether its planning a Halloween costume or buying candy, to preparing for Thanksgiving, endless Christmas shopping lists, New Years Eve and then just that quickly it’s already 2017.
This year, I invite you to make a resolution:
“This year, I will devote my time, talent and treasure to making a difference. I will participate in #GivingTuesday.”
Now, some of you might be saying to yourselves “This sounds great! But what exactly is #GivingTuesday?”
#GivingTuesday, is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.
It is celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.
Mark Your Calendars! This year, #GivingTuesday will be taking place on Tuesday, November 29.
Last year, Flat Rock Homes participated in our first ever #GivingTuesday. Thanks to our donors and community partners, we had an incredible day of giving! Here is a look at Flat Rock’s inaugural #GivingTuesday by the numbers:

This wonderful #GivingTuesday concluded with our Annual Kiwanis Christmas Party with the Bellevue Kiwanis Club delivering presents for each of our Care Center residents.
