We hope everyone has enjoyed the beginning of the fall season! Here at Flat Rock Homes, we certainly have been enjoying the cooler weather and loving the changing leaves on the trees around our area.

 

From the Last Few Months:

September 10-16 was DSP Appreciation Week and we took the week to show our DSP’s just how much we love them! We had treats and photos posted to Facebook featuring what our DSP’s love about their jobs. We are always looking for more DSP’s to add to our amazing family out here at Flat Rock. If you think you’re a good fit or know someone who is, apply through our website!

October brought our Biennial Quilt Auction! This year the event was held at the Patricia Lindley Center for the Performing Arts in Wellington, Ohio. The venue was absolutely stunning and our partners at Wellington First United Methodist Church were equally as amazing. We were blessed to work with them. Bob Hale of Benefit Auction Services, LLC conducted the auction and kept the crowd excited for the duration of the event. Thank you so much to our partners and our wonderful volunteers that made the day possible!

 

Upcoming Events:

Coming up November 28^th is the global day of giving known as #GivingTuesday. We’re excited to participate in a bigger capacity this year! We are raising funds to replace the furniture in our houses here in the Care Center. There have been some generous donors who have offered matching donations for this year’s drive. Between those gifts and your donations, we can definitely reach our goals! It’s also the beginning of the Christmas season here at Flat Rock Homes! We have sent out information to churches and organizations to help make this season wonderful! Another fun update is that Race at the Rock is moving back a weekend this year in hopes for warmer weather!  Mark your calendars for May 5, 2018! More details to come.

 

Announcements and Areas of Need:

Don’t Forget: The Labels for Education program is coming to an end! If you have a stockpile of them on your shelves, make sure you get them to us before Christmas so we make sure we have time to get them in!

We are always in need of general paper products like toilet paper, tissues, and paper towels. We are also in need of laundry items. Specifically, we need baby laundry detergent. Keep an eye on our Item of the Week Challenge on social media for the most up to date items we need.

Do you have any skills we can put to use out here at Flat Rock Homes? Even if that skill is alphabetizing, we can use it! We love our volunteers and if you’re interested in getting in on the fun email tcummings@flatrockhomes.org.
