The Start of Back to School- July 2018
It may still feel like summer outside, but it is officially the start back to school season here at Flat Rock Care Center. As we prepare to send some of our individuals back to school, we continue to have many of our residents going to either our Adult Day Program or to their jobs. We had a lot going on during July, so here is a wrap up of everything!
Accomplishments
We had quite a few volunteer groups come through this month and help us with an abundance of tasks! (Photos below)
At the beginning of the month, we had a couple of awesome volunteers from Flat Rock Ebenezer United Methodist Church come in and help us assemble our Back to School mailer that many of you may have received! They worked for two days in a row to make sure that the mailer went out on time.
Last week, we had two awesome Mission Teams come to campus and help us cross so many things off of our to-do list. The Wellington First United Methodist Church came in and helped us fill in holes in the yard where trees used to be, they also cleaned and reorganized our activities closet and classroom. These may not seem like huge tasks, but they were quite the undertaking and this group knocked it out of the park! We also had a team from Reach Out come in and help us out. They continued to fill in holes in the yard, as well as weeded and trimmed all of our landscaping. They also tackled the job of cleaning some of our windows. These kids worked hard for us and helped us check things off the to-do list that have been on there for over a year!
Event Information
We are still gearing up for #GivingTuesday! We have huge plans for it and we’re so excited to share them with you soon. The Quilt Auction is coming up in 2019! If you’re interested in donating a quilt, let us know and we can send you more information.
Items We Need
We are still in need of adult bicycle helmets! We have bicycles on campus that our residents love to ride, but they can’t do it without helmets. The color isn’t important to us, but they do have to be new.
We are also looking for generic wall phones. As long as they’re in working order, these can definitely be used items! Any donated item can be shipped to us or brought out to the Care Center Campus.
Thank you to everyone in the community who helps us at Flat Rock Homes. We appreciate your donations, time, and prayers more than you could know. And as always, for the most up to date information check our website at www.flatrockhomes.org and all of our social media at @FlatRockHomes.
